Why Pick Carpet Tiles
Carpet floor tiles are no longer just used in the commercial sector. They were ideal for covering the large flooring spaces of offices where conventional rolls of carpet were not really practical. And at one time made purely to handle the high foot traffic of the office, they may not have been as pleasant in the home environment.
Now manufactured in many different grades that can match those of carpets we are used to in our homes, there is now a growing demand for domestic carpet tiles.
Main benefits when using carpet tiles for the home
A carpet tiles installation is far easier than fitting a standard carpet from a roll. Usually this is best left to a professional as this can be a very awkward job when dealing with carpet on the roll. A mistake in the measuring at the start to one wrong cut and it could cost you dearly. But with the tiles, as long as you can read simple instructions and have some basic diy skills you should be able to do a competent job on your own.
If you have your own transport, getting the carpet tiles home from the store should be hassle free. Usually measuring 50cm x 50cm and packed in boxes they are far easier to move than large rolls of carpet. Save on delivery costs and no need to tie to the roof of your car.
If you have a floor area that is a difficult shape this is no problem. Carpet rolls don’t lay round corners to well. When fitting carpet in a long narrow room wastage can be a large factor. Rolls of carpet tend to be sold in standard widths so it would be laid length ways down the room which would mean a cut down the length of carpet to fit the width which usually ends as waste. When laying carpet tiles you measure out a starting point that avoids as much wastage as possible.
Carpet tiles are manufactured to be hard wearing and long lasting. As with any flooring, spills and stains can be a problem if not treated right away. But the one key advantage over roll carpet, you are able to replace individual tiles if the need were to arise. This would be very useful if you are a landlord renting property out and don’t want the expense of laying a whole new carpet when damage occurs.
